Health Ministries:  Connecting Mind, Body & Spirit!

Parish Nurse—Kathy Benton

Our Parish Nurse at Harmony is Kathy Benton. Kathy does an awesome job of both challenging us and educating us on the many ways that we can and should be more attentive to improving our health!

Kathy’s Clinic is open the first Sunday of each month at 9:15am. Stop by for a blood pressure check, weigh-in, or to ask Kathy any health question you may have on your mind.

Living Abundantly—Beginning Spring 2012

The Faith Community Health Ministry program has always promoted health and wellness in our communities through education, counseling, advocacy and referrals.  We continue our mission to promote healthy living and disease prevention by introducing a program called Live Abundantly.  This year, all of our faith communities will receive Live Abundantly health education & information as well as the continued support of their Faith Community Nurse or Faith Community Health Promoter.  We are organizing our education and programming this year to help individuals meet goals in the following focus areas related to physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Here are the focus areas for 2012:

• Understand How Your Choices Impact Your Health
• Schedule a Well Visit with Your Primary Care Provider
• Know Your Body Mass Index & Understand Your Numbers
• Know Your Blood Pressure & Understand Your Numbers
• Maintain a Current Medication List
• Make Healthy Nutrition Choices
• Stay Physically Active on a Regular Basis
• Rest & Renew Your Body, Mind & Spirit
• Maintain Your Spiritual Health by Connecting with God & Others

Zumba Classes  held every Monday at 6:45-8:00 Adults  $3.00 per class

Community Health Fair will be held at Harmony on
Saturday, August 18  10:00—2:00. Various health booths and
representatives will be here to assist with health screenings and
information for children and adults.

The Mammogram Van will be at Harmony in November 2012  (date TBD). Call
 the church for more information (704) 782-8237 on how to make an appointment.
